Over a year ago I sifted Matt Faust's Home. In yesterday's The Times-Picayune, there was a write-up about the Matt Faust and his short film. The film will be shown at the Tribeca Film Festival.

I am passionate about quality computer games. If you are like me, I am sure you have been frustrated with the amount of flop movies made based on games, and the rep they have created making it harder to have faith in future quality films stemmed from games. ANYWAYS...I found this, it just came out.

An independent short Half Life film. Very striking. Check it out! Hope the next ones don't go downhill lol.

ps. Vote!

The National Film Board of Canada just released its entire archive of 700+ films online for free:

And they're embeddable!

Some of my favourites are already sifted:

...but there are many many more that are worthy of adding.

A new "short" "brief" flag is now available for videos to complement the "long" flag. A valid brief video is any one with no more than 60 seconds of content. (61 seconds or more does not qualify.)

The *short *brief invocation can be invoked by Gold star members and above.

Enjoy.

[edit]
We have a problem *short conflicts with *shortfilms so the short-lived *short invocation has been replaced with *brief.

I'm currently writing a script for a VideoSift video. Who wants to be in it, relatively speaking?

Disclaimer: If you say you don't want to be in it, you're going to be in it whether you like it or not.

Now I just need a video camera and an editor to splice it together.

I have been looking for a clip for a while now that I think needs to be on the sift. It was available on Joost for some time here, but not anymore. Maybe one of you can help.

It is the shortfilm documentary "Murbah Swamp Beer" which won the Tropicana Award at Tropfest in Sydney in 2002

More info here: IMDB entry for Murbah Swamp Beer

I am not asking anyone to pirate it, I just hope someone has better luck than me in finding an embeddable version somewhere in the depths of the web.

Reward: I´ll donate five powerpoints towards your account (worth 10$)

Good luck and thanks in advance!

Edit: eric3579 found the clip!
I posted it here:

Thanks!

On May 10, 2008 Cairo, Kigali, London, Los Angeles, Mumbai, and Rio de Janeiro will be linked to produce a 4-hour program of films, music and speakers. The program will be broadcast live at the same time across the world. According to the festival organizers, "Pangea Day plans to use the power of film to bring the world a little closer together."

Well, it looks like the trilogy of new channels is now complete: the short films channel has launched! To commemorate this, I've filled my queue with some interesting short films, and I've even taken a page from schmawy's book and modified my avatar for the occasion (though my photoshop skills are nowhere near his).

I've already started putting stuff in the channel, but I'm sure there's a lot that I've missed, so feel free to go through your videos and *shortfilms where needed. Remember, any video which tells a story is welcome.
